Hypothec program for European scops owls

Hypothec program for European scops owls

The project will be implemented in the Tyumen Region. It will involve installing 50 artificial nest boxes for Scops Owls in various areas of the southern Tyumen Region. Monitoring studies will also be conducted to determine the owl's population in our region, as information on the habitat distribution and abundance of Scops Owls is limited and is limited to a relatively small number of published avifaunal studies.

In addition to its scientific and environmental components, the project also includes an environmental, educational, and awareness-raising component. This includes the development and implementation of three seminars and two master classes for birdwatchers, schoolchildren (12-17 years old), and students from specialized institutions (1st-4th years) in the region. These classes will cover both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in ornithological research and the specifics of nestboxing as an important aspect of biotechnical measures aimed at preserving and maintaining the population of rare bird species in the Tyumen Region. The project will also engage target groups in birdwatching, joint conservation campaigns, environmental events, and competitions.
